Chocolate Pear Dainties

About pear liqueur
A pear flavoured liqueur. Liqueur is a class of spirit that is usually sweet and often served after dinner. It is produced either mixing or redistilling spirits with natural ingredients such as fruits, plants, flowers, or chocolate. Sugar must be at least 2.5% of the contents by weight.
INGREDIENTS
For the dainties
170 gm self-raising flour
30 gm cocoa powder
200 gm icing sugar
150 gm butter, melted
5 egg whites
1 teaspoon pear liqueur
12 canned minipears
For garnish
½ cup apricot jam, melted in a bowl over simmering water
Icing sugar
1. Preheat the oven to 180ºC.
2. For the dainties. Sift the self-raising flour, cocoa powder and icing sugar together into a mixing bowl.
3. Pour in the melted butter and mix well.
4. Gradually add in egg whites, mix well.
5. Pour in pear liqueur and stir until thick.
6. Divide the mixture among 12 baking cups.
7. Put one canned pear in each cup.
8. Bake for 10 minutes.
9. Turn down the oven to 160 ºC and bake for another 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
10. Just before serving, spread the dainties with the melted apricot jam.
11. Scatter over the chocolate shavings, then dust the top with icing sugar. Serve.
