Medlar and Blueberry Jelly


About medlar

Medlar is a traditional Chinese medical herb, famous and valuable. Through testing, beside its protein, Ningxia medlar contains 8 rare elements and many kinds of amino acid alkaloid that human body needs, medlar amylose, β-carotene and other active biotic components. Medlar amylose is widely used in medicine and healthcare food sectors, which can be made into drinks, oral fluids, soluble tablets kept in mouth and capsule products etc. Medlar is also of anti-caducity, preventing from cancers and curing cancers, a good basic raw material of developing medical, biologic and health-care industries, which is more and more needed year on year in market.





INGREDIENTS


½ tael / 19 gm Ning Xia medlar
1 box organic blueberry, reserve some for decoration
1 box raspberry jelly powder
2 tablespoons organic cane sugar
1 cup water

1 tablespoon gelatin



1. Wash blueberry. Puree in a blender or food processor until smooth.



2. Soak the medlar with water till soft, wash.

3. Place a cup of water in a saucepan, bring to the boil.

4. Add in the medlar and boil for 2 minutes, then spoon the medlar into a bowl and remaining water into the pan.



5. Add crane sugar into the water and bring slowly to the boil over a low heat and stir until dissolved, then remove the pan from the heat.

6. Stir in jelly powder and gelatin, stirring all the time until the liquid clear and leave to cool.

7. Add in blueberry puree and medlar and mix well.



8. Pour the blueberry mixture into individual small jelly cups and chill until set.

9. To serve, decorated with a fresh organic blueberry.
